I like some of U2s newer stuff but I agree the older is better. The Joshua Tree and War are long time favorites. How about you?

War indeed :D I haven't heard The Joshua Tree...but it sure does sound very excellent! But on the War CD it says 'island' so i get confuzzled :[ -what does it mean, what could it be??

I think island is the name of the record company U2 was with back then...or maybe its a secret society of island nations plotting the overthrow of the continental kings.

A very thought provoking question I've pondered for several days and still don't have an answer. It would be easy to just say it would free our minds. For some it might some it might not. The majority of the population are followers and would go into a tailspin if their reality were upset to that extent. A mind in shackles suddenly set free would seemingly be confused, not knowing how to deal with the newfound freedom. This commonly happens during disasters when social order breaks down and otherwise civil people rape, pillage and loot the city they call home. People go into an instinctive self preservation state of mind allowing themselves to do things to protect their existence. People who have tasted true free will without the dogmatic oppression so prevalent in society have the potential to choose freedom when such a collapse occurs. Their minds will have the conditioning to not panic or return to primitive instinctual self preservation and instead be able to make more rational decisions while the rest are competing for existence. I think it would be a bit of survival of the fittest where the free mind will triumph over physical dominance. But then again, I may be biased to one side or the other ;)
